- Day 1 – Welcome to Colombia
Personalised welcome at Bogotá International Airport and transfer to your accommodation in the historic centre of the capital. This first free evening gives you time to settle in before setting off on a great naturalist journey, from Amazonian forests to Andean summits. Overnight in Bogotá.
Day 2 – First immersion in Guaviare
Morning flight to San José del Guaviare, a transition territory between the Amazon, the Orinoquía and the Guiana Shield. After checking in at the hotel, your first naturalist outing takes you into the region’s secondary forests and gallery forests, in search of primates and tropical birds. Free evening in San José del Guaviare.Day 3 – Rock art and the forests of Cerro Azul
Departure by 4×4 to Cerro Azul, home to one of Colombia’s most important rock art sites. Hike through the heart of the tropical forest to cliffs covered with millenary paintings, with bird and primate observation along the way. In the afternoon, visit a former coca farm that has been transformed into a community awareness centre. Return to San José del Guaviare.Day 4 – The pink river dolphins of Guaviare
Boat trip along the Guaviare River in search of the fascinating pink river dolphins, emblems of the great Amazonian and Orinoco waterways. The day is devoted to observing aquatic wildlife and riverside birds. In the evening, a night walk in the forest offers the chance to spot amphibians, reptiles and nocturnal mammals. Overnight in San José del Guaviare.Day 5 – From Amazonian forests to the Llanero foothills
Overland departure to Rancho Camaná through landscapes that transition between the Amazon, the Llanos and the foothills of the Andes. At the end of the day, first wildlife observation in the wooded savannas and wetlands of this threshold territory, where you may already glimpse some of the region’s great emblematic birds. Overnight in an ecolodge at Rancho Camaná.Day 6 – Towards the wild Llanos
Long morning journey to Hato La Aurora, in Casanare, one of Colombia’s finest wildlife observation areas. Arrival in the afternoon and check-in at Juan Solito ecolodge, in the heart of the flooded savannas. First evening at the slow rhythm of the Llanos, in an environment favourable to encounters with large wildlife.Days 7 to 9 – The colours of the savanna
For three days, full immersion in the world of the llanero safari. Sunrise and sunset safaris, daytime and night walks, and navigation on the Ariporo River are all designed to maximise the chances of observing the spectacular wildlife of Casanare. Giant anteater, anaconda, giant otter, capybara, jabiru and many other species inhabit these vast wild plains. Overnights at Juan Solito ecolodge.Day 10 – From the savannas to the Andean forests
You leave behind the endless horizons of the Llanos to reach the coffee region and its Andean forests. After a transfer to Yopal Airport and a connecting flight to Pereira, continue by road to Yarumo Blanco ecolodge. In the evening, a first night walk in this new mountain ecosystem introduces you to the discreet species of the Andean night.Day 11 – The treasures of Yarumo Blanco
A day devoted to observing the wildlife of the Andean forests. Early morning birdwatching around the ecolodge, search for groups of howler monkeys, then free time for photography and quiet contemplation in this natural refuge of the coffee region. Overnight at Yarumo Blanco.Day 12 – From forests to páramos
Drive to the heights of the Ruiz area, with a stop at Hacienda El Bosque, a renowned place for mountain bird photography. As you ascend, the landscapes change, temperatures drop, and the wildlife becomes more specialised. Arrival at Termales del Ruiz at the end of the day, with time to observe hummingbirds around the gardens and overnight in this high-altitude setting.Day 13 – In search of the Oxypogon
Excursion into Los Nevados National Natural Park, at the heart of one of the rarest ecosystems on Earth: the Andean páramo. The day is devoted to searching for the Stübel’s puffleg and other high-altitude species, in a landscape of frailejones, mist and mineral silence. Return to the hotel to enjoy the facilities and hot springs. Farewell dinner and final night in the Ruiz region.- Day 14 – End of the adventure
Last moments in the Andean highlands to watch hummingbirds or enjoy the thermal pools before departure. Transfer to Pereira Airport and connecting flight to Bogotá or your next destination. End of this great naturalist journey in search of Colombian wildlife.

This journey crosses several natural regions of Colombia, with overland transfers, boat outings, safaris and wildlife walks. It is accessible to anyone in good general condition who wishes to enjoy an immersion in the heart of Colombia’s biodiversity.
Special recommendations:
- Bring light, breathable clothing, as well as long-sleeved shirts for protection from the sun and insects.
- Pack a few warmer layers for the higher-altitude stages in the Andes.
- Bring good walking shoes suitable for natural terrain.
- Pack a rain jacket or waterproof poncho.
- Sleep well before excursion days and stay hydrated throughout the trip.
- Use sunscreen, a hat or beanie, and sunglasses.
- Do not forget your water bottle, headlamp, small backpack and yellow fever vaccination certificate.
Travelling greener:
- Keep your waste with you and take it back whenever possible.
- Avoid music, shouting or any behaviour that may disturb wildlife.
- Follow your guides’ instructions and respect the balance of the ecosystems visited.
- Favour a discreet and respectful attitude during wildlife observation.
