Carbon compensation

According to the WTO, tourism contributes to 8% of the world’s carbon footprint, of which 3.2% comes from the transport sector and the remaining part from the hotel industry.

Also, taking into account the part produced per capita, one can find France produces 4.6 tons per inhabitant and the United States 16.5 tons. Developing countries, such as Colombia, only produce 1.6 tons per capita.

Keeping this in mind, Colombie Celestine is committed to offset of our trips.

Working with Nature Reserves

For each circuit, Celestine will have an estimate of the equivalent CO2 produced per tourist and will plant the amount of trees needed to compensate.

Our main partner is the natural reserve “La Tribu”, located in the municipality of Unguía, in the department of Chocó.

LA TRIBU
Nature Reserve

La Tribu plants endemic trees that are in jeopardy, and also conducts social activities with the local community of Gilgal, making their work essential.

Our commitment will be supported by a certificate from the natural reserve, given to each participant returning from the trip
